Still on Schedule

Lifting on Tuesdays and Thursdays is working out well. It's good to have that scheduled break in the day. Wednesday was not good: I got stuck at work late, and because they had been painting I had a bad headache. But I also didn't take a rest break on Monday: I had to shovel some snowin the morning, and in the evening I helped a friend move some furniture. So maybe that evens out.
I hope I can go snowboarding in the near future. So far there's only been enough snow to have to clear the drive, but not enough to make the slopes like inviting.

Been Busy

Work has been busy the last few weeks, but I am still keeping to my workout schedule. Sunday, I had to spend 3 hours hauling stacking firewood. It is for things like that that I train: I know that even when I am tired, I still have the strength to finish the job.

Today is intervals.

Rest Day

Today I am resting (aside from the dog walking). I think I earned it after the last few days:

  • Thursday: Lower-body strength training
  • Friday: Intervals on the stationary bike (boring!)
  • Saturday: Swimming for one hour (I just did sets of 50s and 100s)
  • Sunday: Yoga in the morning, volleyball in the evening.

I'm trying to get to a schedule of lifting on Tuesday and Thursday, and aerobic workouts on Wednesday and Friday. Then anything goes on the weekend: whatever fits.

New Year, New Goals

I am not one to make "New Year's Resolutions." Instead, I set goals for myself for the coming year. Among my goals for this year:
  1. Improve my swimming.
  2. Bike or run to or from work at least 3 times a week.
  3. Run a 5K under 22 minutes.
  4. Run a marathon under 3:30.
  5. Make the OneWorldRunning shoe collection an ongoing thing.
  6. Learn to play guitar.
I'll be using the power of Blogger labels and Google Calendar to update the progress of these goals. Wish me luck!
